THE APURVA Kempinski Bali has collaborated with painter Diego Berel to host an art exhibition titled “Gallery of Art: Art Beyond Boundaries” on Friday (12/30), 2024. In this exhibition, 13 paintings by Diego Berel, a individual with special needs, were displayed to show that art is the right of every individual, regardless of background or ability.

DIEGO HAS JOINED MATALESOGE PROGRAM
IN response to the growing concern for people with special needs, particularly those with autism or Down syndrome, Diego has joined the Vasaka Hotel Jakarta and Matalesoge HospitABLElity Academy program in one-day training it’s took place on Saturday, February 11, 2024. The event commenced at 9:00 a.m. and concluded at 3:00 p.m.
LIFE OF THE UNIVERSE
THE painting, entitled “Life of the Universe,” by Diego depicts portrays three distinct phases of existence: the first depicts a group of humans, the second features a representation of hell in the form of flames, and the third shows heaven in the form of light.

IF GOD IS ANGRY
THE painting “If God is Angry” by Diego depicts a person in a cave panicking because there is a fire in front of him with smoke that creates a dramatic and scary effect. The use of dark and red colors dominates the painting, supporting the dramatic effect.

INDONESIA’s tropical rainforests offer a visually stunning environment. The verdant landscape features a diverse array of flora, including trees, flowing rivers, and vibrant flowers. Diego employs a unique approach to depict his imagination abstractly through palette knife strokes, resulting in an intriguing painting about forest fires.

POMELO
IT is notable that Diego’s oeuvre does not feature a significant number of paintings depicting pomelo fruits. For reasons unknown, he applied himself to the painting with great enthusiasm after observing a fruit vendor at the market. The soft colors that he selects form an intriguing combination in Diego’s latest creative painting, which consistently showcases his willingness to experiment with new techniques.

COLLABORATION CONTINUES
AFTER a significant period of postponement, the joint venture between the two artists is now ready to resume. This time, SAF-DIEGO is focusing on new projects with the goal of completion, including paintings on canvas and other pieces for the upcoming exhibition. This project was undertaken in a spirit of collaboration and mutual support.
